The most important event settings!

Updated on September 24, 2024

Open the event settings #

The event configuration opens automatically when the first event is created. You can also open the event configuration at any time in the event dashboard via the side menu – “Event configuration” – “Settings”. Therefore open your event first with the event overview of your backend.

Event time #

The event time allows you to set a start and end time for your event. Before the start time, your event is in test mode. When the start time is reached, your event automatically goes into live mode. At the end of the event, the event goes into finish mode. Players can then no longer play.

If you create an event, your event time is automatically set to 30 days in the future to be on the safe side. We want to make sure that you have enough time for testing. Of course, you will have to adjust the event time to give you more time to test or to make your event live earlier.

Info text / game info and finish dialog #

The info text is useful to give your players an introduction to the event. The info text (also called game info) can contain a welcome text as well as game rules etc.

Although the info text can be completely deactivated in the app if required, it is displayed as an option in the app’s main menu by default.

The finish dialog is displayed when the event time has expired or all tasks in an event have been played. The dialog appears as a pop-up and can be used to actively signal to the player that the event is over and to provide further information (evaluation, meeting point, etc.).

Important: If the completion dialog is empty, it will not be displayed.

Event branding #

Even without a white label app, you can brand your event individually within our native Scavenger Hunt App and Web App.

You can upload an event logo for the app header, a background image, a placeholder image for the image container in the tabspots and a preview image in the event list. You can also set different colors for icons and text in the app. Just give it a try!

UI adjustments #

App menu #

In our software, you can choose between a main menu with 2 or 4 menu items. You also have the option of moving options in the main menu or moving them to a different position. By default, functions such as “Individual pages”, Operator Call or Chat are moved to the submenu behind the power button. With individual UI customizations, you can also add these and other options directly to the main menu. Just try it out!

Your own terms #

If you don’t like our standard terms in the app, you can customize them to suit your taste. For example, change “Points” to “Gold” or “Tasks” to “Stations”. Let your creativity run wild and experiment!

Define additional event settings and app features #

In addition to the setting options mentioned here, there is a whole range of other options. These include indoor maps, individual map design, cooperative mode, etc.

You can find an overview of all other advanced event settings and app features here!
