When planning your event with our Serious Games Scavenger Hunt Software, it is important to carefully check the access requirements.
First of all, you should decide whether you want to offer the game privately for your own group or publicly.
In the case of games for your own closed group, we usually speak of an “event” or “team event”, while games for the public are referred to as “open applications”.
Event / team event #
If you decide to play an internal team event, the question arises if you, as the organizer of the game, provide mobile devices.
If you provide the devices, it is advisable to create team accounts manually and prepare them on the devices. You can find out exactly how this works in the following two articles:
How do I create a new player account?
How do I create a team in the event?
If the players use their own devices, access via QR codes is recommended. There are three variants:
General event QR code: The general event QR code brings potential players directly into the event if they already have a player account. If players do not have an account, they must first register in the app or continue with guest access.

Guest access QR code: With a guest access QR code, your players are automatically logged in with a guest access (regardless of whether they have an account or not).

Team-specific QR code: A team-specific QR code refers to a specific player account that has already been added to the event as a team.

Open application #
With an open application, the same question arises regarding registration.
If you want the players to register, use the simple general event QR code. More information here!
If you want to skip the registration and let the players remain anonymous, the guest access via QR code is the right choice. More information here!
If you use a booking platform for commercial open applications, an account and a team-specific QR code will be created with every booking.
In summary, you should therefore decide whether your event should be private or public, whether you will provide mobile devices or whether players will use their own devices, and whether registration is required or not.
These decisions will help you choose the right event access for your game and ensure a smooth gaming experience.
