What is a guest access? #
If your potential players don’t have a player account yet and you don’t want them to register in the app, you can send them a guest access QR code.
If your players scan this (inside or outside the app), they will automatically be logged into the app with a guest account.
You can also create multiple guest accounts with different validity.
Create guest QR code access #
Step 1 #
Go to the event dashboard of your event.
Step 2 #
Go to “Individual views” in the side menu on the left and then “QR code accesses”.
Step 3 #
Then open the “Guest access” tab.
Step 4 #
By clicking on the plus symbol, you can now create one or more guest accounts with different validities.
Attention: -1 = infinite validity
Advantages #
The biggest advantage of guest access is that it is quick and easy to set up – both for the player and for the event manager.
Players do not have to register. With a simple click on “Guest access” in the login area of the native Scavenger Hunt App and the assignment of a user name, they can use the app immediately. They can then enter an event quickly and easily using event QR codes, for example.
It is even easier if the player has already received a guest access QR code from you. In this case, the player is automatically logged in with guest access and taken directly to the event.
Guest access also offers flexibility for you as an event manager: you can create as many guest access QR codes with different validity periods as you like and distribute them to the participants.
Disadvantages #
A major disadvantage of guest access is that temporary, coded email addresses are created that cannot be reused. This means that the player cannot log on to another device with a guest account, e.g. to continue playing when changing devices.
Although the event manager can partially assign the guest accesses based on the assigned usernames, this is only possible to a limited extent.
In addition, the guest accesses cannot be used for future events or passed on to other people, which can make handling complicated and impractical.
Therefore, always pay attention to when and in which use cases you use guest access.
