How to test an event?

Updated on September 25, 2024

Testing with and without GPS #

We recommend testing events directly on site in the playing field under real conditions. This gives you a better feel for the tasks and the environment and allows you to adjust parameters if necessary.

However, if you want to test your event from the comfort of your own home, simply go to the event configuration and deactivate the option “Play with GPS positioning” under Interaction/App features. This will ignore GPS functions and you can complete the tasks from anywhere.

Remember to reactivate the setting before the live event.

Test with the native Scavenger Hunt App #

Testing your event is easy with the native Scavenger Hunt App.

Step 1 #

Log in to our Serious Games scavenger hunt app with your event manager account. White label partners may use their white label app here.

Step 2 #

Now scan the general event QR code. This will take you directly to your event with your existing event manager account. The scan will automatically add your event manager to the event as a team.

Test with the Web App in the browser #

The test via the Web App is somewhat more complex, as it is not possible to log in directly with your event manager account. We therefore recommend access via a guest account or a player account.

Login via guest access #

Create a QR code for guest access. To do this, go to the side menu of the event dashboard. There under “Single views” you will find the option “QR code accesses”. Click on the plus sign and then create a new QR code in the “Guest access” tab.

Then open the Web App and scan the guest access QR code using the corresponding QR code button on the login page of the Web App. Then simply assign a user name and you’re ready to go.

Login via new player account #

Go to the “Teams” widget in the event dashboard and click on the “Add team” plus symbol. Select the “New account” tab and create a username, email and password.

The e-mail does not have to be verified; any unique abbreviation (e.g. companynameteam01) is sufficient.

If you already have player accounts, you can also add an existing account via the “Existing account” tab. Then log in to the Web App and you can call up the event in the event list.

Important:

Expired events may not be displayed in the Web App. The event date should therefore be in the future.

Reset your test #

Option 1 – Resetting single solution trials #

You can easily reset single solution trials in the backend. Search for the “User interaction” widget in the event dashboard. There you will find the single solution trails of your testers. Maybe you need to refresh the card. Click on the red trash icon to delete the solution trials one by one.

To make the task playable again in the app, you must refresh the task list or map in the app.

Option 2 – Resetting the entire event #

You can reset your event by clicking on events and then reset in the top right-hand corner of the event dashboard. You still have the option of resetting all or just individual parameters.
